The Characters

Many readers of Whisky From Small Glasses, have asked about the characters in the book - where does the inspiration come from?

I want all of my main characters to be many-faceted; none of us are all good, or all bad - happy all the time, or constantly sad. Though all of those who populate the book have distinct(I hope)personalities, I want them to live normal lives during the course of the series of books, going through the same ups and downs that buffet us all.

I think that it's important to layer a novel as much as possible. Take a look at wonderful drama like The Sopranos for instance, is it the blood, gore and violence that enthrals the viewer, or watching Tony's wife and children present him with all the problems and joys we all face on a regular basis?

I think the truth is somewhere in the middle, and we enjoy the sum of the parts, rather than just a pick and mix selection of from the whole.

Keep reading Whisky From Small Glasses.
